Sole was the surving puppy in a litter of three males, hence his name Sole Survivor which stuck with him. Rearing a singleton puppy has its challenges but he developed into a wonderful character, incredibly bonded with humans rather than other dogs, and he has a very non Wolfhound-like passion for endless retrieving games with the toy of his choice, not ours... He was never what I would call a big ring dog but enjoyed coming to the shows, always ready at the door when the show bag came out, but his boredom threshold was always low so keeping his attention in the ring was a game I didn't always win.

February 2011. Sadly we lost Sole very suddenly to what appears to be an immune related problem i.e. a virus that his body didn't fight off. He was 6 years 8 months and up until that day, fit in every way - no signs that anything was wrong, which made it all the more of a shock and leaves us wondering how it could happen so quickly.
